Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the things people most often ask about Ascend.
What is Ascend?
Ascend is a private, AI-powered career management platform. It helps you manage your professional network, track opportunities, prepare for interviews, set career goals, and get proactive advice — all in one place, across your entire career.
Who is Ascend for?
Anyone who takes their career seriously — whether you're a student planning your path, a professional growing in your current role, actively looking for a new position, or maintaining your network in retirement. Ascend works for every stage.
Why is my network important in my career?
As you progress through your career finding and securing a job becomes much more sophisticated than just finding jobs on LinkedIn or job boards and applying. Because jobs are becoming more and more competitive it's very important that you leverage your network to help you identify potential jobs, apply for them, and find people to advocate for you. In other words, your network can not only help you get a job but also make you more discoverable by clients, employers, and employees at organizations that may be important to your career.
What do you mean by 'investing in my career'? Doesn't it just mean applying for a job when I need a job or want a job?
Investing in your career means spending a little bit of time on a continuous regular interval on things that will provide value to you in your career. You can think of it as career investing. Small investments of time now pay dividends later.
How does the AI Career Advisor work?
The AI learns from your goals, resume, contacts, and activity history. It proactively surfaces suggestions, prioritizes your tasks, monitors your network health, and briefs you before meetings. The more you use Ascend, the more personalized the advice.
Can I use Ascend if I'm not actively job searching?
Absolutely. Ascend is designed for your entire career, not just job searches. Use it to maintain your network, track goals, keep your resume current, and get proactive advice.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. Ascend has no public profiles, no social features, and never shares your personal data with advertisers or employers. Your career data belongs to you. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We are fully compliant with GDPR and CCPA.
Does Ascend integrate with my email and calendar?
Yes. Ascend connects to Gmail and Google Calendar (read-only) to sync communication history with contacts and provide meeting context. Your email content stays private.
How much does it cost?
Ascend is free during beta — no credit card required. After beta, there will always be a free, fully-featured tier. See our Pricing page for details.
Is there really a free plan?
Yes. Ascend's free tier is fully featured — not a limited version. It will be ad-supported after beta, with contextual ads that respect your privacy.
What does “ad-supported” mean?
Ads in Ascend are contextual — based on your career stage and general interests, never your personal data or identity. We never share your information with advertisers. If you prefer no ads, the premium tier removes them.
What do founding members get?
Beta users are recognized as founding members. Specific perks are being finalized, but founding members will receive special status and benefits when Ascend exits beta. Sign up now to secure your spot.
